Ihr bürgerlicher Name ist Marie Louise Hartman. Sie erlernte den Beruf der Krankenschwester. Sie drehte über 1000 Filme und zählt zu einer der bekanntesten amerikanischen Pornodarstellerinnen. Unter anderem spielte sie auch neben Mark Wahlberg in "Boogie Nights" mit. Sie liess sich ihre Brüste von 32D auf 36D vergrössern.

Hartley hatte ihr Filmdebüt 1984 in "Educating Nina".
